Revamping Chairs

I have these old chairs that Gordon and I bought just after we were married and they are kind of ugly looking, so I decided to revamp them. It was really easy and it only took about an hour.

First I unscrewed the padding on the chairs then I pulled off the staples and plastic.

Next I measured out the the pieces of material and I left about 2 inches of extra around the edges. Since I didn't have a stapler, I used a hot glue gun to attach the fabric.

After I finished the gluing process, I cut off the excess fabric. Here is one of the finished pieces. once I finished both parts of the chair, I screwed them back in and....

this is what it looks like when it is all finished

Monks Cloth Blanket

I finally finished a project that I have been working on for over a year and a half! I made this blanket for my mom. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMA!

Monks cloth is a lot like cross stitching. It is fun to play with but after working on it for a few hours, I start to make mistakes and then have to take apart 2 or even 3 hours of work. So I put it aside until I am not frustrated with it anymore and thats why this project took me so long.

Here is the finished product!

Bruchetta

Bruchetta!!!!
I tried this new recipe on Friday night and I loved it! I am a really, really big fan of the movie Julie and Julia and one of the first things that they eat during the move is bruchetta.

-artisan french bread
-olive oil
-salt
-pepper
-3-4 heirloom tomatoes (I just used regular romaine tomatoes)
-fresh basil to taste
-garlic powder to taste

Chop tomatoes and basil then mix together (I would recommend mincing the basil because it tastes better.) Add 2 table spoons of olive oil and let it set at room temperature for a few minuets.

Coat the bottom of a frying pan with olive oil and turn it on to medium heat. Cut the bread into 1/2 inch-3/4 inch slices then pan fry them until they are light brown. While the bread is cooking add salt, pepper, and garlic powder to the tomato basil mixture.

Once the bread has browned add the tomato mixture then ENJOY!!

Last week my best friend, Jami flew from El Paso to spend some time with me. We went to Seattle...

we saw the gum wall

went to the park in front of the aquarium

went to the aquarium

saw the space needle

the beautiful view on our way home

went to hobby lobby!

Jami and I also worked on a skirt together. It took forever and it turned out really nice!

This is the most AWESOME 7-11 EVER! There are tons of different flavors and it is only a few minutes away from my apartment.

I had such a great time while she was here and so did Charlie. We had tons of fun being lazy and just hanging out. I Really wish that we lived closer :( I'm really going to miss her.
